Quen Sign

The Quen Sign erects an arcane barrier around the caster that is capable of deflecting incoming attacks for a short time and can, at advanced levels, harm those who attack the caster while the Sign is active. Once conjured, it moves with the Caster. The Quen Sign is ideal for deflecting the attacks of single-shot weapons or a small number of melee-oriented attackers, as it is easily overwhelmed by automatic fire or massed attacks.

Activating the Quen Sign requires a free hand and is considered a Half Action. As with other Signs, it is considered a Psychic Attack Action, and so limits what other Actions the caster may take in a Round. Once conjured, the Quen Sign erects a globe of glowing, green energy around the caster, extending to a range of 3 meters in diameter. This globe is transparent and does not block line of sight into or out of it. The barrier is capable of completely nullifying a number of incoming attacks equal to the caster’s WP Bonus with the E, I or R Damage Types. It cannot block attacks with the Force, Psychic or Warp Quality. This buffer is reduced by 1 for each such attack so nullified.

Focus Time: Full Action (Psychic Attack)
Range: Personal
Duration: WP Bonus Rounds or until exhausted
Sustained: No
Effect: Conjures a barrier shield 3m in diameter around the Caster that protects against physical attacks.
Skill + 10: Add 3 to the caster’s total WP Bonus to determine the number of attacks the barrier can deflect. Additionally, against attacks with the Force, Psychic or Warp Quality, the barrier reduces the damage of such attacks by its remaining count.
Skill +20: Add 5 to the caster’s total WP Bonus to determine the number of attacks the barrier can deflect. Additionally, the barrier inflicts 1d10 E Damage, ignoring Armor, against anyone who strikes the barrier with a melee or unarmed attack.
