Storm Call

Threshold 40 V2 Modifier -30
Duration Willpower Bonus in Rounds, plus Concentration
Casting Time Full Action
Cost For the fullest effect of this Word of Power, the Speaker must concentrate on maintaining the storm. While concentrating, the Speaker may make no other attack, nor may they use any other Psychic or Arcane power. They may make only Half Moves, though they are permitted to Dodge. They may employ no other Skill or Talent that requires significant mental energy, focus or concentration. Note that, if the Speaker is not concentrating, she may not control where the lightning strikes. Instead, use the place she was standing when she spoke this Word and roll a Scatter dice to determine where the lightning falls. Each bolt will Scatter 1d100 meters from that point in a random direction. The spot indicated by the Scatter indicates the center of the lightning strike template.
Effect This Word creates a storm 200 meters in diameter, centered on the Speaker, complete with gale-force winds, driving rain and sleet, and strokes of deadly lightning. The effects of the storm affect everyone caught within it, friend or foe, excepting the Speaker, who cannot be affected by the storm while maintaining concentration on it. However, if the Speaker ceases to concentrate, she becomes subject to the full effects of the Storm.

Shout to the skies a cry to the clouds that awakens the destructive force of lightning.

Degrees of Success Syllable Effects
1 Strun Thick clouds, howling winds and driving rain spring up around the Speaker to a distance of 100 meters in any direction. Beginning on the first Round, and persisting for the entire duration, all visual Ranges are cut in half (the Speaker ignores this). Beginning the second Round, and persisting for the entire duration, all Ranged attacks suffer a -20 penalty to attack. Beginning the third Round, and on every round thereafter that the storm persists, the Speaker may select a target area five meters on a side. Anyone in that area must make a Dodge test (and must be able to move far enough to get out of the affected area) as a terrific stroke of lightning arcs from the sky and impacts the selected area. Anyone caught in the blast suffers 3d10+5 Energy Damage, is knocked down, and Stunned. Any 10s rolled are checked against the Speaker’s Willpower.
2-3 Bah As above, save that the Speaker can target 2 different areas (which may be adjacent) with lightning strikes. Additionally, the increased furor of the storm reduces visibility to 5 meters (excepting the Speaker). Further, driving rain, sleet and wind cause the entire area to be treated as Difficult Terrain when moving through it.
4+ Quo As above, excepting that the Speaker can call down 3 lightning bolts in a round, provided they strike other areas (though they may be adjacent). Such is the fury of the storm that Ranged attacks are impossible and so powerful are the winds that anyone caught in the area (excepting the Speaker) suffer 1d5 hits per Round by flying debris, each such hit inflicting 1d10 Impact Damage.
